Την Ελένη Καραΐνδρου τη γνώρισα στις ταινίες του Θόδωρου Αγγελόπουλου. Το έργο της όμως είναι πολύπλευρο κι έχει ντύσει θεατρικές παραστάσεις, ακόμη και σίριαλ. Ένα από τα αγαπημένα μου cd, Η ελεγεία του ξεριζωμού, με κυνηγάει τον τελευταίο καιρό. Παιδί προσφύγων κι εγώ, από μικρή ταυτίζομαι με τους ξεριζωμένους αυτού του κόσμου. Στις μέρες μας θαρρώ πως βιώνουμε τραγικά όλοι μας ένα είδος ξεριζώματος από τις αξίες, τις ελπίδες, τις βεβαιότητες για τον κόσμο που βίαια αλλάζει.
I met Eleni Karaindrou through Theo Angelopoulos' films. However, as her work with all its depth is much more than accompanying films, theatrical performances and tv series, she is considerd one of the giants of the contemporary composers. One of my favorite albums, the Elegy Of the Uprooting is haunting me these days. As a child of Minor Asians refugees myself, I identify with all the uprooted immigrants of this world. However in our days I feel that all of us are experiencing in the most tragic way a kind of violent uprooting out of the values, the hopes, the certainties for a world which is rapidly changing.
